19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has won twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
